Instructions
- In heavy frying pan, heat 1 cup sugar.
- Do not stir or touch until brown.
- Turn off stove and mix until melted.
- Pour into 2-quart deep dish casserole; set aside.
- Heat milk in saucepan on low.
- In another bowl beat eggs with 1/2 cup sugar, salt and vanilla.
- Add to milk gradually; mix.
- Pour over caramel in casserole.
- Place in large pan filled with water and bake at 325° for 2 hours.
- Cool and refrigerate.
