Ingredients

  • 1 cup watermelon balls
  • 1 cup honeydew melon balls
  • 1/2 cup Chardonnay or other white wine
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime or lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped candied ginger

Instructions

  1. Combine wine, sugar, and whole cloves in a small non-reactive saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Strain the mixture to remove cloves, then stir in lime or lemon juice and finely chopped candied ginger.
  4. Chill the syrup before serving.
  5. Serve the syrup drizzled over watermelon and honeydew melon balls.
