Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup syrup (light or dark)
  • 2 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Cook the sugar, syrup, and water to firm ball stage.
  2. Pour half of the hot mixture over the egg whites; beat and set in a pan of hot water.
  3. Cook the other half of the mixture to hard ball stage.
  4. Pour over the first mixture; beat until smooth.
  5. Pour into a pan; mark into bars when cool.
