Ingredients

  • 1 cup white cornmeal mix
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon melted shortening or oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 6-inch square pan.
  2. Place cornmeal in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add milk, egg, and melted shortening or oil to the bowl.
  4. Stir only enough to thoroughly mix the ingredients.
  5. Pour the batter immediately into the well-greased pan.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
