Golden, crispy Hungarian Csörge doughnuts with a sweet and buttery flavor, twisted into diamonds and fried to perfection, ideal for festive occasions or indulgent treats.

Ingredients

  • 6 c. flour
  • 1/2 lb. butter or oleo
  • 1/2 pt. sour cream or canned milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together until smooth and well combined.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  3. Cut the dough into diamond shapes of desired size.
  4. Make a slit in the middle of each diamond and pull one end through the slit to form a twisted shape.
  5. Fry the twisted dough pieces with the pulled side up in hot oil until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
