Kielbasa Chowder

Ingredients

  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 1 small head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 lb. kielbasa, cut into 1/4-inch slices

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in a large pot.
  2. Bring to a boil and simmer until cabbage is tender, about 15 minutes.
  3. Add 2 or 3 potatoes, sliced.
  4. Simmer about 15 minutes more until potatoes are tender. Blend 3 tablespoons flour in 3 cups milk and stir into soup until slightly thickened.
  5. Add 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese and stir to melt.
