Ingredients

  • 1cup whole milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 6 tablespoons shortening
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Czech style sausage of your choice cut to preferred size. V&V is great brand in this style.

Instructions

  1. Scald milk. Cool to room temp. Add water, yeast, shortening, egg, salt, sugar, and 1/2the flour. Slowly beat in remaining flour. Knead. Brush top with oil & let rise till double. Punch down and pinch off pieces to flatten either by hand or with a rolling pin. Place a piece of sausage in the center of the dough and pinch ends together. Place seam side down on a cookie sheet . Brush the tops of the unbaked rolls with melted butter. Let them rise until double in size before baking in a 350 degree oven until golden brown (20-25 min).
