- Combine water and butter in a saucepan; heat until butter melts, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and cool to 125° to 130°.
- Combine 3 cups bread flour and remaining ingredients in a large mixing bowl; stir well.
- Gradually add liquid mixture, beating well at high speed with an electric mixer.
- Beat an additional 2 minutes at medium speed.
- Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- Cover bowl; let rest for 10 minutes.
