Mabel'S Caramel Corn

Ingredients

  • 1 c. oleo
  • 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 qt. popped corn
  • 1/2 to 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 250°.
  2. Spread corn in two pans.
  3. Melt oleo and stir in brown sugar and salt.
  4. Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Add vanilla and soda.
  6. Pour over corn.
  7. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  8. Let cool and store in plastic bags that seal well.
