Ingredients

  • 8 eggs, separated
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Scald the first 3 cups of milk.
  2. Beat the egg yolks with half of the sugar.
  3. Add salt and cornstarch to the egg yolk mixture.
  4. Stir in hot milk and beat well.
  5. Heat the mixture again and add vanilla.
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. Beat egg whites and add remaining sugar.
  8. Pour the warm mixture over the beaten egg whites.
  9. Place the mixture into the freezer.
  10. Add enough milk to fill the container.
  11. Freeze according to freezer directions.
