Ingredients

  • 2 medium Vidalia onions
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Slice onions and separate into rings.
  2. Combine water, sugar, and vinegar; stir until sugar dissolves.
  3. Pour the mixture over the onion rings.
  4. Cover and chill for at least 3 hours; then drain.
  5. Stir in mayonnaise and celery seeds.
  6. Serve on lettuce leaves.
