Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted Martha White self-rising flour
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk and stir with a fork only until dough leaves sides of bowl.
  4. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead just until smooth.
  5. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a floured 2-inch cutter.
  6. Place biscuits, lightly touching, on an ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until brown.
