Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups raw peanuts
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 stick oleo or butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 20 drops red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, raw peanuts, and water in a heavy saucepan, stirring constantly.
  2. Bring to a rolling boil and boil for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from stove and add oleo, vanilla, and red food coloring.
  4. Continue to stir and beat intermittently until the mixture begins to lose its glossy appearance.
  5. Pour into a greased cookie sheet or into foil molds of desired patty size.
  6. Allow to cool before eating.
