Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. hot scalded milk
  • 1 c. cold water

Instructions

  1. Mix yeast, hot water and 1 teaspoon sugar in bowl;
  2. let rise. Pour
  3. milk on top of butter in mixing bowl until butter melts. Then
  4. pour 1
  5. cup cold
  6. water on butter mixture. Add sugar and salt.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Add
  9. flour
  10. until soupy, about 2 cups flour. Then
  11. add
  12. yeast
  13. and
  14. mix well.
  15. Add flour until dough won't take
  16. any
  17. more
  18. flour.
  19. Knead;
  20. let rise in warm place
  21. until doubled.
  22. Punch
  23. down;
  24. knead.
  25. Divide
  26. into
  27. 2 loaves.
  28. Place in bread pans and let rise again.
  29. Bake at 375° for 1 hour.
