"Mountain" Fried Pies

Ingredients

  • double pie crust
  • deep fat
  • stewed (dried fruit) apples
  • sugar to taste

Instructions

  1. Roll crust on a floured board.
  2. Cut with a large cookie cutter.
  3. Put 1 1/2 tablespoons sweetened, mashed, cooked fruit in each round.
  4. Moisten edges with cold water and fold to make semi-circle; press edges together with a fork.
  5. Fry in hot deep fat and drain well on paper towels when crispy brown.
  6. Great on cold winter days or just anytime.
