Nut Roll Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast
  • 3/4 c. lukewarm milk
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Heat milk; add to shortening and salt.
  2. Mix all other ingredients together; mix well.
  3. Let rise 2 hours.
  4. Use your favorite nut recipe.
  5. Bake at 350° until brown.
  6. Before baking, beat 1 egg yolk and brush on bread.
  7. Prick with fork to let steam out.
  8. Instead of rolling like a jellyroll, fold the dough for a different effect.
