  1. Wash and cut large cucumbers.
  2. Pack the cucumbers into clean jars.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon salt and 3 tablespoons sugar to each quart jar.
  4. Fill each jar one-third full of vinegar.
  5. Finish filling the jar with water and shake to dissolve the salt and sugar.
  6. Seal the jars and put them into hot water bath for 10 minutes after the water starts to boil.
  7. Remove the jars at once and check to see that they are sealed.
