Ingredients

  • dill
  • 2 qt. water
  • 2 c. vinegar
  • 1/3 c. pickling salt
  • 1/2 tsp. powdered alum
  • 1/2 tsp. mixed pickling spice

Instructions

  1. Boil together the water, vinegar, pickling salt, alum, and pickling spice.
  2. Put dill at the bottom, in between, and on top of a 5-quart ice cream pail.
  3. Pour the hot brine over the dill-filled container.
  4. Let the pickles sit for a few days before eating.
