- Drain mandarin oranges; reserve the liquid.
- Use the reserved liquid to dissolve the orange Jell-O, adding enough water to make 2 cups.

- Add the Jell-O to the boiling liquid, then stir in the orange sherbet until dissolved.
- Cool the mixture and refrigerate until it is partially congealed.
- Whip in topping until well mixed.
- Fold in the drained mandarin orange sections.
