Ingredients

  • 8 firm ripe pears
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 3 c. dry white wine

Instructions

  1. Wash pears.
  2. Pare and core from blossom end but leave stem intact.
  3. Brush pears with lemon juice.
  4. Combine white wine and sugar in a large saucepan.
  5. Bring to boiling, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  6. Lower heat and add pears.
  7. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until pears are tender but still firm.
  8. Let pears cool in the syrup.
  9. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
  10. Drain pears before serving.
