- Roll dough half as thick as you like your biscuits.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add milk all at once.
- Stir with a fork just until moistened, knead gently 10 times on lightly floured surface.
- Roll or pat dough 1/2-inch thick.
- Cut with floured biscuit cutter.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Makes 16.
