Tips & Substitutions

When making this remedy, ensure that the lard is not too hot before adding the camphor gum to prevent it from burning. For a more pleasant scent, consider adding a few drops of essential oils like eucalyptus or peppermint. If you don’t have camphor gum, some people substitute with menthol crystals, but the potency may vary. Always test a small area of skin to check for sensitivity before applying.

Serving Suggestions

This remedy is meant for topical use only and is not ingested. For best results, it can be applied before bed and covered with a warm cloth for added warmth. Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover mixture in a sealed container in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. It should last for several weeks. When ready to use again, gently reheat the mixture in a double boiler, being careful not to overheat it, as this can alter the properties of the ingredients.
