Ingredients

  • 10 lb. pears (after peeling and slicing)
  • 8 lb. sugar
  • 1 1/2 oz. ginger root (whole)
  • 3 lemons
  • 3 oranges

Instructions

  1. Grind the oranges and lemons, using all except seeds.
  2. Dissolve the sugar in water.
  3. Add all ingredients; cook until pears are clear and syrup thickens.
  4. Seal in jars while hot.
  5. Enjoy on ice cream or as a sweet preserve.
