- Slice cucumbers 1/8-inch thick.
- Dissolve lime in water in a glass, stone or stainless steel container.
- Add cucumbers, being sure that cucumbers are covered with liquid.
- Let stand 24 hours. Rinse well, let stand 3 hours in clear water and drain.
- Mix vinegar, sugar, cloves and salt.
- Pour over cucumbers and let stand overnight.
- Bring to boil, and boil 35 minutes.
- Fill sterilized jars to 1/2-inch of top.
- Seal, boil jars in hot water bath for 5 minutes. Chill pickles before serving.
