Ingredients

  • 4 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 6 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. warm water

Instructions

  1. Scald milk.
  2. Stir in shortening and sugar.
  3. Let cool to lukewarm.
  4. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, stir together milk, yeast and 6 cups flour.
  6. Let stand until bubbly.
