Rice Pilav

Ingredients

  • 6 strands spaghetti or orzo
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups chicken, beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt
  • fresh parsley
  • 2 to 3 cloves garlic

Instructions

  1. In a pan, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and cook until it turns yellow.
  3. Add orzo or broken spaghetti and stir until coated with butter and smelling like popcorn.
  4. Cook until lightly browned, but not burnt.
  5. Add heated broth and salt, then quickly stir once.
  6. Cover with a lid, reduce heat to lowest, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Fluff with a fork and garnish with chopped parsley.
