Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Crisco oil
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups lukewarm water
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Place shortening and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Add lukewarm water; stir well. Stir in dry yeast.
  3. Add self-rising flour all at once; beat with a fork to make a soft dough.
  4. Cover and let rise for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or refrigerate until ready to let rise.
  5. Knead down the dough; form into rolls.
  6. Let the rolls rise.
  7. Bake at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
