Ingredients

  • 1 c. mashed potatoes
  • 2/3 c. butter flavor Crisco
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 to 8 c. flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 yeast cake
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 c. scalded milk, cooled to lukewarm

Instructions

  1. Mash potatoes.
  2. Add shortening, sugar, salt and eggs; cream well.
  3. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  4. Add lukewarm milk.
  5. Pour into potato mixture.
  6. Add enough flour to make stiff.
  7. Place on floured top.
  8. Knead dough well; add flour as you knead.
  9. Let rise in large bowl until double in size.
  10. Knead again; cut rolls out. Let rise for 2 to 3 hours.
  11. Bake at 375° until golden brown.
