- In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, and milk, stirring constantly.
- Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves, then boil for 10 minutes without stirring, until the syrup reaches soft ball stage (234° to 240°).
- Remove the pan from the heat, and add the walnuts and vanilla.
- Spread the candy out on wax paper.
- Let cool before cutting.
