Ingredients

  • 2 c. salt
  • 1 gal. water
  • 2 Tbsp. alum
  • 1 qt. water

Instructions

  1. Cover whole cucumbers in salt water and let stand for 10 days.
  2. Take out the cucumbers and cut them.
  3. Put the cucumbers in clear water for 24 hours.
  4. Remove the cucumbers and put them in alum water.
  5. Heat the alum water to warm on the stove for 2 hours, just covered in alum water, stirring occasionally.
  6. Take from hot water and chill in ice water.
