Instructions

  1. Put the beef or fowl in the cold water with the salt, pepper, and barley.
  2. Bring to a boil and then simmer.
  3. Prepare the vegetables and add to the meat together with the oatmeal.
  4. Simmer for about 2 1/2 hours.
  5. Serve.
  6. (We like to eat this with Soda Bread and glops of a soft pungent cheese for dinners).
