Tips & Substitutions

For a more robust flavor, consider adding a bay leaf or juniper berries while cooking the sauerkraut. If Pignuckles are unavailable, smoked sausage or kielbasa can be excellent substitutes. Adjust the white wine to your taste preference, and feel free to experiment with different varieties, such as a dry Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc. Rinsing the sauerkraut helps reduce its saltiness.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the wine sauerkraut hot alongside the cooked potatoes for a hearty meal. It pairs beautifully with Guilt-Free 'Mounds' Bar for dessert or a side of crusty bread to soak up the flavorful juices. For an added touch, garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives to enhance the dish's presentation.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm the sauerkraut in a pot over low heat, adding a splash of water or white wine to prevent it from drying out. Potatoes can be reheated separately in the microwave or on the stove until warmed through.
