Ingredients

  • 5 yams, parboiled and sliced
  • 5 apples, cored, peeled and sliced
  • cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Layer the sliced apples and yams in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Sprinkle cinnamon over the layered apples and yams.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, water, and salt.
  4. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
  5. Pour the sauce over the layered yams and apples.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
