Ingredients

  • 1/3 stick oleo or butter
  • 1 can peaches or cherries
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Melt oleo or butter in an 8 x 8-inch square pan.
  2. Add fruit and its juice.
  3. (Peaches or cherries are best; but any fruit may be used, fresh or canned.)
  4. Make a batter of the flour, milk, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  5. Pour the batter over the melted butter and the fruit.
  6. Bake at 375° for about 30 minutes (about 45 minutes for cherries).
  7. Serves approximately 4 to 5 people.
