Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Knead the flour into the softened butter.
  2. Knead the granulated sugar into the flour-butter mixture.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into a well-greased 8-inch square pan or shortbread mold.
  4. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 40 to 45 minutes or until a delicate brown color develops.
  5. Cut into 36 squares while still hot.
  6. Return to the oven for a few minutes to dry out the edges.
  7. Let cool in the pan or on a wire rack before serving.
