- Leave cucumbers whole and cover with boiling water.
- Let stand at room temperature overnight.
- Next morning, drain and wipe cucumbers dry.
- Cover with boiling water again.
- Repeat this process for 3 more mornings.
- Afterward, cut cucumbers into 1/2-inch slices.
- Mix cider vinegar, pickling spices, salt, and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil.
- Pour the hot mixture over the sliced cucumbers.
- Let stand at room temperature for 2 days.
- Bring the mixture to a boil again.
- Pack the cucumbers into jars, seal, and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
