Anise Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. anise seed
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. oleo, softened
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Sift
  2. together
  3. flour,
  4. soda, cream of tartar and salt. Cream oleo and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add egg and mix well.
  6. Add flour
  7. mixture
  8. and
  9. anise
  10. seed.
  11. Mix
  12. until well blended. Chill
  13. for a couple hours for easier handling.
  14. Roll into balls about 1 inch and bake on lightly greased pan 10 to 12 minutes at 350°, or until lightly browned.
  15. Makes 3 dozen.
