Ingredients

  • 2 cups cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • pastry for double crust pie
  • 5 to 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, and water.
  2. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes while stirring.
  3. Cool the cranberry mixture for 15 minutes.
  4. Prepare the double crust pie pastry.
  5. Fill the pie with sliced apples and 1/2 cup sugar, then add the cooked cranberry mixture on top.
  6. Cover with the second crust, seal edges, and cut slits for steam.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
