Ingredients

  • 3 oz. butter
  • 3 oz. demerara sugar (brown)
  • 3 oz. golden syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. black treacle (dark molasses)
  • 6 oz. self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. ground mixed spice
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 pt. unsweetened apple puree (made from 1 medium cooking apple and 1 beaten egg)

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F, 180°C or gas mark 4.
