- Pour hot milk over shortening, sugar, salt and spices; cool to lukewarm and add yeast which has been dissolved in lukewarm water. Add eggs; stir in flour and beat.
- Knead to a smooth dough.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise until very light.
- Toss on floured board and pat into 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut with a 3-inch cutter and place rings 2 inches apart on buttered baking sheets. Brush with melted butter and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk.
- Bake at 425° for 8 to 10 minutes in oven.
- Remove and brush again with melted butter and roll in granulated sugar.
