Basic Foolproof Pie Crust

Ingredients

  • 2 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3-4 Tbsp. ice water

Instructions

  1. Blend flour, salt and shortening into coarse crumbs.
  2. Mix vinegar, beaten egg and ice water together; add to flour mixture. Add more water if necessary to work into soft dough ball. Refrigerate 30 minutes to let dough rest.
  3. Press into pie plate.
