Ingredients

  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 3/4 c. very cold milk

Instructions

  1. Adjust oven rack to lowest position.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°.
  3. In a food processor with steel blade, combine flour, salt, and Crisco; pulse about 6 seconds until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add milk and process until dough forms a ball.
  5. Continue processing for 2 minutes.
  6. On a floured surface, roll dough into a rectangle 1/4-inch thick.
  7. Fold dough in half, pressing lightly.
  8. Using a 1 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out dough and place on a cookie sheet.
  9. Re-roll scraps and repeat, cutting more biscuits. Prick each biscuit with a fork.
  10. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until pale golden.
  11. Turn off oven and leave biscuits in oven for 35 minutes.
