Braised Apples

Ingredients

  • 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut in 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. fresh ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c. fresh apple cider
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. finely chopped crystallized ginger

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss apples, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg.
  2. In a non-stick skillet, heat butter and oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the apples and saute for 1 minute.
  4. Pour in cider, cover, reduce heat to medium-low.
  5. Simmer 12 to 15 minutes or until tender.
  6. Stir in ginger.
  7. Serve hot.
  8. Serves 4.
