Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup oleo
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup plain mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour and yeast in a mixing bowl.
  2. Heat milk, oleo (margarine), sugar, and salt until warm.
  3. Add the flour mixture and mashed potatoes to the warm mixture.
  4. Beat with a mixer for 30 seconds on low, then 3 minutes on high.
  5. Stir in the remaining flour with a spoon until dough forms.
  6. Cover and chill for 2 hours or overnight.
  7. Stir down the dough, then roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
  8. Cut with a doughnut cutter.
  9. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  10. Dip in donut glaze before serving.
