Ingredients

  • 5 c. flour
  • 5 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 5 Tbsp. warm water

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients together.
  2. Cut in shortening.
  3. Add buttermilk.
  4. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  5. Add to mixture. Blend lightly.
  6. Roll out to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut out. Dough may be stored in refrigerator or cut out and frozen.
  7. Makes approximately 5 dozen.
