Ingredients

  • 16 eggs
  • 1 lb. sugar
  • 8 oz. oil
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • lemon or anise flavoring
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs until well combined.
  2. Add sugar and oil to the beaten eggs and mix thoroughly.
  3. Prepare the yeast according to the package instructions.
  4. Add the prepared yeast to the egg mixture.
  5. Gradually add flour to the mixture, a little at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  6. Place the dough into a greased large bowl or kettle.
  7. Let the dough rise until it has doubled in size.
  8. Shape the dough into desired forms.
  9. Let the shaped dough rise again until doubled in size.
  10. Preheat the oven to 300° to 325°F (150° to 160°C).
  11. Grease the baking tin before placing the shaped dough inside.
  12. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
