Sweet and crunchy apple slices coated in rich butterscotch and drizzled with chocolate, perfect for a quick, indulgent treat or festive snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 large apple
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 3 teaspoons shortening
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a tray with waxed paper. Wash the apple, dry thoroughly, remove the core, and cut into 8 slices.
  2. Blot dry the apple slices with paper towels.
  3. Place butterscotch chips and 2 teaspoons of shortening in a medium bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds until melted when stirred.
  4. Dip each apple slice completely into the melted butterscotch mixture using a fork.
  5. Tap the fork gently to remove excess coating from the apple slices.
  6. Place the coated apple slices on the prepared tray.
  7. In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips and remaining shortening in the microwave on high for 15 seconds.
  8. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the tops of the apple slices using the tines of a clean fork.
