Ingredients

  • 1 gallon cucumbers
  • 1 cup salt
  • 11 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons alum
  • 1 gallon water
  • apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Drain off the alum water from the cucumbers.
  2. Cover the cucumbers with apple cider vinegar and let stand for 24 hours.
  3. Add 3 cups of sugar to the vinegar mixture each morning for three mornings.
  4. Fill jars with the pickles and seal them.
  5. Do not heat anything during the process.
