Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lb. all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 cakes yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 quart warm water

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, salt, and Crisco in a large bowl.
  2. Mix with your hands until well blended.
  3. Dissolve yeast in 1 quart of warm water and add to the flour mixture.
  4. Work the mixture until stiff. Grease sides of the bowl and top of the bread dough.
  5. Let the dough rise until it reaches the top of the bowl.
  6. Grease your hands and work the dough down.
  7. Put the dough into greased pans and let rise again.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
