- In a 10-inch ovenproof skillet or a 9-inch square pan, melt shortening in a 425° oven.
- Combine dry ingredients, using 2 to 4 tablespoons of sugar according to taste.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Stir in melted shortening; mix well.
- Pour into hot prepared skillet.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or
- until light, golden brown.
- Serves 9 to 10.
